The search for the Fountain of Youth has been around since the beginning. Over the ages hundreds of explorers plus many wise men and women have sought the answer to this ubiquitous question. Many have travelled the world believing the secret of constant youthfulness is a specific location. Frequently people asked, “Could it be the Hot Springs of Europe?” Others declared they had found The Fountain of Youth in Florida.

Often as we age the question of maintaining our youth becomes a priority in our lives. We laud those who are able to enjoy life at 100 years of age and sometimes even older. What is it that allows some people to live to the century mark? The endless search goes on possibly intensifying with age. Certainly in today’s world, we are concerned with pollution, air quality, healthy food, diet and life style. Where are the answers? Are the messages we hear the right ones for us? Consider your own life along with the stress, pollution of air, noise and general environment. How does the media news make you feel? Where do you go to re-generate your soul? Here are two incredible suggestions: Loughbreeze B&B and Ontario Cycling Hostel, secluded privacy in the middle of everything, serving the Cobourg, Grafton, Port Hope, Brighton, Warkworth and the Presqu’ile Provincial Park areas. Now I invite you to consider these words of Sophia Loren:
- “There IS a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.”

Early Tuesday, it was announced that a Washington advocate for the elderly, a New York radio producer, a Harvard economist studying financial inequality and a sports injury researcher from North Carolina all had something new in common. In fact, they joined 18 others in becoming members of an enviable elite: They are the latest class of MacArthur Fellows, an honor that awards $500,000 to leading scholars, thinkers and creatives in the United States.
Seven of the fellows are directly involved in the arts. Among them is Kay Ryan, a Pulitzer Prize winning poet and former U.S. Poet Laureate, who has appeared numerous times on the NewsHour. Ryan, 65, has taught writing to community college students for 40 years and is the author of seven volumes of poetry and one anthology of her work.
Other artists, writers and musicians in the group include Dafnis Prieto, a Cuban-born jazz percussionist who interprets the music of his upbringing in a dynamic jazz form; Ubaldo Vitali, a fourth-generation silversmith who is both a conservator learning about past traditions and and an artist forging new forms; and Alisa Weilerstein, a talented young cellist whose repetoire includes both classical and contemporary composers.

Ben and Mike entertaining us in Loughbreeze's outdoor theatre on Sangria Sunday
Can I get a refill?
It may have been yesterday or certainly within the past several days, Loughbreeze Bed and Breakfast celebrated with our many friends and neighbours from Persia, The Netherlands, Germany, Ireland and England while remembering our guests from Hawaii, Belgium, Argentina, Australia and our great acquaintances across Canada the USA, with a wonderful Sangria Sunday Celebration. We asked everyone to bring a piece of their art/crafts or anything that fascinated them. Well, it was awesome! Herb brought a self built miniature steam engine, Patricia & Terry set up some of their incredible photographs, Jan brought an extremely unique piece of free form aluminium from a serendipitous spill at her factory and Ursula showed us her colourful stained glass. And Anita, that’s her in the photo, honoured us with her one of her beautiful paintings.
Mingling and Munching at Loughbreeze's Sangria Sunday
In the marvellous fall sun, with a delightful lake breeze, we laughed, talked and shared the music of Ben & Mike, as we munched on delectable shrimp, Susan’s home made bread with flax, an incredible hot cheese dip, delicious dried fruit, plus innumerable other treats while sipping our very own fruity home made Sangria courtesy of the LCBO staff with back up by those folks at GOOGLE. Let me just say, I wish you could have been here. Visit our web site: www.loughbreezebay.com, or www.ontariocyclinghostel.com.
